South Haven teen seriously injured in crash; community rallies

Dinner fundraiser

A Friday night traffic accident seriously injured a high school student from South Haven – and the community is rallying to help.

The family of 17-year old Alexis Kasinger says she was seriously hurt in a car accident after leaving work Friday. Now the family, her high school swimming team, the local dance academy, and others are helping to raise money for her care.

A dinner fundraiser is planned for this Friday at the South Haven High School, a GoFundMe page set up by the family has already raised $23,000 of the $100,000 goal — though the medical bills continue to mount. An update on Alexis’s condition posted from the family indicates she’ll be in surgery again Monday morning.

The family says she’s fighting and they greatly appreciate the support they’re receiving.
