The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is set to move to the next phase of the $27 million investment to rebuild the US-12/M-51 interchange in Niles.

MDOT says starting Monday, July 1, weather permitting, one lane of M-51 will reopen in each direction while crews rebuild the northbound lanes. Work includes sidewalk and ramp upgrades, base replacement, drainage improvements, and paving operations.

Work on US-12 continues, with the next phase to rebuilding the US-12/3rd Street intersection. That work likely will start in August. The exact dates will be shared when they are determined based on construction progress.
