St. Joseph City Commissioners are ready to interview two finalists for the position of city manager.

At a meeting this past week, Commissioner Michelle Binkley of the manager search committee said initial committee interviews with seven candidates have taken place, and it’s time to bring in the two finalists for interviews with the full city commission.

We had 25 candidates with a variety of qualifications, and I am happy to report that the subcommittee has arrived at two exceptional candidates of that group that met all the qualifications,” Binkley said.

So, who are the two candidates?

Those two final candidates are Juan Ganum, current city manager of Bridgman, and Emily Hackworth, current assistant city manager of St. Joseph.”

Commissioners agreed to interview Emily Hackworth and Juan Ganum in early July, on July 1 if it can work for both candidates.

The city commission is looking for a replacement for current City Manager John Hodgson, who is retiring in the fall after 30 years of service to the city. He’s been city manager since 2015.
