The United Way of Southwest Michigan has been featured as Charity of the Month on Wolf Financial Advisory’s community giving and podcast series.
The United Way’s Zack East tells us Wolf selected the organization in November because of the things it can do to help businesses make a difference in the community.
“They identified United Way of Southwest Michigan primarily because of the amount of work that we do in the community with a lot of impact partners. We work with over 50 different people in the three-county area to make real change within the three-county area and also direct funding programs like 211 and Dolly Parton’s Imagination the three-county area and also direct funding programs like 211 and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the VITA program for free taxes, and lots more.
East says the United Way works with businesses and other organizations to show them ways they could have an impact, not just by donating money but also by volunteering. For example, if a company’s employees say they want to help improve the community, the United Way could sign them up for one of its volunteer programs for a day. Rake a Difference each fall is an example.
East says the spotlight put on the United Way of Southwest Michigan by Wolf Financial also came with a $10,000 donation to the United Way and a guest spot on Wolf’s podcast series.
