South Haven’s HarborFest is set for this upcoming weekend.
South Haven’s annual summer kickoff event is set for this Friday and Saturday. Games, a craft fair, and the infamous beer tent all start Friday at noon, followed by live music in the evening by Randy Heidema, Zion Lion, and a Bob Seger tribute band, Katmandu.
Ken Vanhorn, longtime president of HarborFest, said this event is a great way to get summer started in South Haven.
“It’s just a fun, family-friendly community event, just to kind of kick off the summer season in South Haven,” Vanhorn said.
The popular Dragon Boat Races return after a hiatus last year on Saturday. They begin at 9 a.m. at the Riverfront Park. Vanhorn, along with the community, is glad the races are returning this year.
“People are excited. We have the big boats again, which we are grateful for and we’ve got six teams competing this year, so people are just excited to see him back the tradition for a long time.”
The 31st annual HarborFest will also feature another craft show, beer tent, and more live music during the day on Saturday. The night will conclude at 10 p.m. with a AC/DC Tribute band.
