David Joseph Brennan, known to many as simply David, passed away on May 25, 2024. Born on September 27, 1938, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, David was a man of integrity, spirit, and resilience. He was a celebrated Quartermaster who carried out his duties in the United States Navy with unparalleled dedication, serving for 22 significant years. His life was a testament to a quote by John F. Kennedy: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

The intricate pieces he crafted told tales of his experiences and the places he’d lived, including his hometown of West Branch, Michigan, and the numerous global locations he visited during his Navy career. He also found solace in fishing, a hobby that allowed him to bask in the serenity of nature and reflect on life’s simple pleasures.
David Brennan will always be remembered as a loving husband to Elain Brennan, whom he married on November 15, 2018. His spirit will live on in his children – Patti Decastro, Mike, and Jeff Brennan, Joann Gingerich, and Matthew Baldwin. His sister Kathleen Walsh, many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Adelaide Brennan, his second wife Shirley McGath Brennan, his brother Pat Brennan, and sister Rhett Perry.

In the words of Albert Pine, “What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.” David’s legacy is immortal, living on in the hearts of those who loved him, the stories that will be told about him, and the memories that will be cherished.
These shared moments will serve as a tribute to a life well-lived and as a comfort to those who miss him dearly.
