If you make a trip to west Michigan’s Ludington, you’ll be able to take a trip on the S.S. Badger, the last coal fired steamship operating in the U.S.

Ludington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Brandy Miller says the Badger offers four hour trips to Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

They also offer, in addition to that four-hour cross-lake connection to Wisconsin, they do offer some shorter excursions for people who might just want to experience taking a ride on the Badger,” Miller said. “They have two-hour shoreline cruises on the Ludington side, on the Ludington-Michigan side, and then also on Manitowoc throughout the summer.”

Miller says says Ludington has a couple of historic lighthouses that are available for tours. The Little Sable [ saable ] Point Lighthouse is celebrating its 150th anniversary, while the North Breakwater Light is having its 100th anniversary.
