The new mural on the bluff stairs in downtown St. Joseph is now finished.
St. Joseph Today’s Daniele Crevier tells us artist Kim Wood worked for about a week to complete this year’s artwork this past week. It has a colorful theme.
“We had a great local artist, Kim Wood, and her concept this year was more geometric and colorful so that anybody could come and relate and find joy in the piece,” Crevier said. “Her piece this year is reminiscent of a sunset on the water, so you’ll see a lot of watercolors, some teals and blues, and as you’re looking at that, it kind of also has that prism as if you’re looking through a lens. So, it’s really bright and beautiful, and we’re just really excited to have a tie-in to the water.”
Crevier says public art has long been valued in St. Joseph, and the stair murals have proven to be popular with residents and visitors alike.
The stair murals started in 2019 and the city works with a different artist each time.
Everyone’s invited to head to downtown St. Joseph to check out the new attraction that will be in place for more than a year.
