One person is dead and at least one other suffered serious injury following an altercation that erupted into gunfire in Benton Harbor early Sunday morning.
Around 2 am Sunday morning, the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety and other area emergency agencies responded to reports of multiple gunshots fired near the intersection of 202 North Fair Avenue and East Main in Benton Harbor.
Sources confirm one dead at the scene and at least one other person injured and taken to Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
Officials with the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety were not available for additional details. Other law enforcement officials confirm this remains an active investigation. No word yet on possible suspects or motive for the shooting.
