Tornado reported near Decatur Tuesday

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Van Buren County on Tuesday. It was reported near Decatur, although we’ve had no reports of any major damage.

Strong storms slammed southwest Michigan in the late afternoon, bringing with them tornado warnings for Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties.

The most damage was reported around Portage in Kalamazoo County.

The storm in some places also brought golf ball-sized hail. In Michigan City, hail the size of tennis balls was reported.
