The South Haven City Council is putting together its list of priorities for the coming year, and getting a lifeguard program back at city beaches could be on it.
The council held a workshop this week to rank its goals moving forward. Assistant City Manager Griffin Graham tells us lifeguards were one of several items that were under discussion, although he says it’s too early to know how high on the list of priorities that will fall. Griffin could only say there is a lot of interest in the idea.
Other priorities to get attention were housing, redeveloping the Overton site, and zoning ordinance reform.
Only six of seven city council members were present for Monday’s discussion, so the absent member’s opinions could change how the final list shakes out.
The council will vote on its priorities at an upcoming meeting, possibly this month.
