Lake Michigan College has announced a new honorary name for its Mendel Center Mainstage.

LMC says on April 4, the venue will celebrate the memory of long-time patron and benefactor Rolfe Jenkins by naming the mainstage for him. As part of the dedication, a live public concert performance by Journeyman: A Tribute to Eric Clapton will take place at 7:30 p.m.

LMC says Jenkins, who resided in St. Joseph, was an avid supporter of the performing arts in southwest Michigan and was a familiar face at the Mendel Center as a mainstage season series ticket subscriber for many years. He died in 2022 and left behind a large bequest to the college.

Lake Michigan College Foundation President Doug Schaffer says Rolfe was always quick to note that he was born on the same day of the same year as one of his favorite artists, Eric Clapton, so the performance chosen for the dedication of the new mainstage name is fitting.

Journeyman concert tickets are on sale now at TheMendelCenter.com.
