It looks like it’s going to be another blockbuster year for cruising the Great Lakes.
Ann Sayers is chair of Cruise the Great Lakes. She says it’s expected there will be more than 140,000 passenger cruise visits this year, generating more than $200 million.
“This year we’re really excited to be welcoming new itineraries, new cruise lines,” Sayers said. “Some returning cruise lines as well as we expect to see Pearl Seas Cruises, Viking Cruises, St. Lawrence Cruise Line…We have a lot of folks coming into the region to experience our port cities, and of course, the Great Lakes themselves.”
Sayers says the tradition of cruising the Great Lakes goes back 150 years, but is increasing in popularity with several cruise lines offering the cruises.
The cruises visit Michigan port cities like Holland, Muskegon, and Mackinac Island.
