Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety sets to determine the safest vehicles on the market. Which brands tested the highest this year? IIHS President David Harkey told us.
“I would say that the single brand company that was most impressive this year was Mazda,” Harkey said. “They had five Top Safety Pick Plus awards, which is our highest award, and then one Top Safety Pick award.”
Harkey says the Hyundai Motor Group, which includes the Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia brands, have the most overall awards.
Not many domestic automakers made the list. GM had no vehicles on the last, Ford had one, and there were two from Stellantis.
