Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through Saturday night

Southwest Michigan is under a Winter Storm Warning through Saturday night.

National Weather Service meteorologist Nathan Marsili tells us the snow will start to come down hardest Friday night.

“Right now, we’re looking for a storm total in the four to eight inch range,” Marsili said. “It could have one to three inches Friday and then there’s going to be a lake enhancement Friday night, which can give another two to four or two to five inches. Then maybe another inch or two Saturday with a lake process going on.”

Marsili says close to the lakeshore, there may be less snow than inland because the lakeshore could get a snow and rain mix.

Heading into next week, he says temperatures will drop to the single digits as Arctic air moves into the region.

“It looks like wind chills will probably be in the 15 to 25 below zero range for much of that Sunday through Thursday period.”

Marsili reminds everyone to take extra precautions in the cold. Utilities are preparing for outages due to high winds, and they advise everyone to be ready for that.

Be sure to have some supplies in your home in case the power goes out. Also, keep supplies in your car in case you get stranded somewhere.
