
In 2023, the state’s largest city saw a drop in homicides.
Detroit Police report violent crime dropped by 1.6% in the city, based on preliminary data. Police Chief James White that homicides are at a 57-year low at 252.
“All of this is really a depiction of how we have a layered approach to solving problems and driving down crime in the city, and this is the result,” White said. “We’ve got to keep it going. The reward for good work is more work.”
The Detroit News reports Flint could see a nearly 12% drop in homicides, while Grand Rapids will also likely see a drop in homicides.
