The Berrien County Board of Commissioners has voted to authorize staff to apply for a grant for new security cameras at Silver Beach County Park.
At a meeting this week, the commission approved a resolution for the Berrien County Parks Department to apply for a Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority grant of $10,000 to be matched with $10,000 of county funds for more and better cameras.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department has recommended the cameras after fights and other problems at the park in recent years.
The grant, if approved, will come through the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority’s Risk Avoidance Program.
