A private security firm will help keep shoppers safe in Benton Township this holiday season.
Township Supervisor Kathy Yates tells us trustees have voted to hire Lange Investigations to conduct patrols in the Fairplain area and bolster the township’s police presence.
“We hired them for the Fairplain area, Meijer, Walmart, Best Buy to patrol just to make sure that customers feel safe this holiday season,” Yates said.
Yates says the Benton Township Police Department is short on officers, so Lange will help lessen the burden.
“We just want to do the best for our citizens, making sure that when they come and go to their various destinations that they can feel free to shop without harm. We want them to be able to spend money in the township, go to eat, bring their families, and just enjoy life.”
Yates says the township worked with Lange over the summer to keep parks safe, and the firm did a good job.
