A vacation home in Berrien County owned by former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been targeted by anti-Semitic vandals.

Neighbors of the home in Union Pier reported the vandalism over the weekend. Someone spray-painted “Nazis” on the fence.

Emanuel wasn’t there at the time. He issued a statement saying he’s “proud of how our friends, neighbors, and the community have rallied to our support and in a singular voice in condemning hatred and bigotry.”

The vandalism has since been cleaned up.

The Anti-Defamation League has condemned the vandalism, saying the “brazenness with which people are expressing their antisemitism, and their hate has gone up dramatically.”

Emanuel is currently the U.S. ambassador to Japan.
