An Upper Peninsula man has pleaded guilty after making violent anti-Semitic threats.

Earlier this year, 19-year-old Seann Pietila posted on Instagram about a plan to kill people at an East Lansing synagogue. He also sent messages about anti-Semitism and glorifying past mass shooters.

U.S. Attorney for the Western District Mark Totten says the FBI arrested Pietila three days after he posted the threat.

“They moved very swiftly to investigate,” Totten said. “The social media company Meta was cooperative.”

When law enforcement searched Pietila’s house, several guns were seized. Police also found ammunition, magazines, a Nazi flag, and gas masks.

Pietila will be sentenced in March.
