Now in full swing is the Berrien County Youth Fair in Berrien Springs. Thousands of people walked the grounds Wednesday with long lines at virtually all the food vendors and rides. Youth Fair Manager Karen Klug told us after some rain Monday, things really picked up Tuesday.
“Yesterday was Kids Day and it was great,” Klug said. “We had lots of people here, over 20,000, and so it was lots of kids having a good time and eating a lot of things, long lines at all the food vendors. And today, we got a really great start as well. The sun’s shining. You can’t ask for anything more than that.”
Klug says the young people are what the Youth Fair is really all about, and anyone can head to the display barns to see some of the projects they’ve been working on, whether it’s horticulture or raising animals. The fair royalty has been named, with Elizabeth King crowned queen and Ryan Murphy crowned king. Wednesday night was to feature Craig Morgan on the grandstand, while Thursday’s headliner is Lee Greenwood. Friday will feature a demo derby, and then things wrap up Sunday, August 20 with Bullmania, a rodeo. The full fair brochure can be found at BCYF.us.
