If you get nervous around big trucks on the freeway, the Michigan State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will have increased enforcement during Operation Safe Driver week. MSP Lieutenant David Haynes told us more.
“We going to be patrolling, along with every state in the U.S. and every province in Canada and Mexico,” Haynes said. “We’re looking for one week, collectively, for driver behavior violations.”
Haynes says when there is a commercial vehicle crash, 94% of the time, it’s because of driver behavior. He says last year, 101 tickets were issued for speed and 188 warnings.
