Lakeshore Public Schools has announced the hire of Allison Arend as principal of Lakeshore Middle School. Arend just completed her fifth year as assistant principal at the school and this will be her first opportunity to serve as principal of a building. Most recently, she was named the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association’s 2022 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year. Prior to working at Lakeshore, Arend taught social studies at Berrien Springs Middle School where she was named the school’s 2017 Teacher of the Year. She’s also coached volleyball, was involved in running several student activity clubs, and served on multiple committees throughout her career. Arend is taking over for Susan Toothman, who is now serving as the director of human resources and communications at Lakeshore.
