In our continuing summer series about ways to keep your kids active and engaged this summer, there is a plethora of programs available at the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library in St. Joseph.

For those who love education and the outdoors, the library is hosting a summer garden story time starting today, and happening every Wednesday morning at 10:30, until August 2nd. This event is designed for children aged newborn to young elementary.

Library Director Paula Stakley shared what to expect.

“After Storytime, we have garden games. So the kids get to go out into the garden and there they have games and activities for the kids to do and enjoy. It’s all to just kind of get them to keep moving,” said Stakley.

If you have older children, there are plenty of other summer programs the library has to offer including Comic Art!, Teen Book Bingo, a Harry Potter Birthday party, and more. Visit the library’s website for more information.

This is the first time since covid that the library has been able to have a full summer reading program. The staff is excited to see faces coming back and it appears the number of people using the library is on the rise.
