Southwest Michigan represented well at the Miss Michigan competition last weekend.
Buchanan’s Maya Schuhknecht won the title of Miss Michigan Saturday in Muskegon. A graduate of Michigan State University this spring, Maya dazzled judges with her artistic ability with a speed painting of Michael Jackson during the talent competition.
Previously, Maya was Miss Spirit of Blossomtime and Miss Congeniality to Blossomtime in 2019.
Also Saturday, Miss Southwest Michigan Breckyn Bussey earned the 4th runner up spot, as well as a talent award. In the teen competition, Miss Southwest Teen Dylan Curtis earned the Miss Congeniality award as voted by her fellow contestants.
Maya moves on to compete for the Miss America crown later this year. Be on the lookout for an interview with WSJM on Tuesday.
