St. Joseph Public Schools said goodbye to eight longtime district employees this week.
The retirees have a combined 122 years of experience in various schools and departments within the district, and were recognized at Monday’s regular school board meeting.
Superintendent Jenny Fee said they have found replacements for each position, but the experience will be difficult to replace.
“You definitely lose some historical knowledge,” Fee said. “We’ve found someone to replace everyone, but that doesn’t mean that we found one that would fill their shoes, to say the least.”
Fee added that several of the outgoing faculty members have been able to help transition their replacements before they leave.
Several of the administrative assistants who are exiting the district have had the opportunity to work with their replacement to help fill in the knowledge gaps,” Fee said. So, that’s been really helpful.”
Three of the retirees have given at least 20 years of service. See the list of all retirees below:
