Republican Kevin Whiteford isn’t going away quietly after losing the 38th District State House election to Democrat Joey Andrews in November.
Whiteford showed up at the Benton Township board meeting Tuesday to announce he is once again running for the Lakeshore district seat in 2024.
He told board members he’s already filed the paperwork.
“What I want people to know is who I am and what I’m about,” said Whiteford, during public comment. “I am incredibly passionate about communities and the youth of our communities. … I’m going to do what I can to make that better. Whether I win or lose this time, I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing.”
Whiteford – who lives in the South Haven area and owns a wealth management company – told board members he has been involved with local Boys and Girls Clubs for 10 years, and is a supporter of Rodney Alexander’s Harbor Impact.
“Lets try to make a difference for the youth of this community and every community,” he said.
Whiteford lost to Andrews by about 1,500 votes during the November election.
