A roll call of those who died in the Vietnam War will be held in South Haven Monday as part of Memorial Day observances. Major Craig Massey, who served in the U.S. Army with 25 years of active duty service including Afghanistan, and Paul Hogan, a U.S. Navy veteran, will issue the Roll Call consisting of 2,654 names of fallen U.S. warriors. Both Massey and Hogan are Vietnam-era veterans. This year is noteworthy, as fifty years have passed since the final American military forces left Vietnam. Massey and Hogan says we “owe these who died an unpayable debt of gratitude for their honorable service.” The roll call will begin at noon Monday in front of the South Haven City Hall flagpole on Phoenix Street with the raising of the U.S. Colors from half-staff to full staff and the simultaneous playing of the National Anthem. It’s expected to take about two hours to read all of the names.
