A 54-year-old Pullman woman is dead after her vehicle was struck by a train Thursday morning in Allegan County.
At about 9:25 a.m., Allegan County Central Dispatch received a call for a personal injury crash near the intersection of 108th Ave and 56th Street in Lee Township. According to a release, witnesses observed a vehicle with a single occupant ejected after being struck by a southbound train.
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle traveling east, and witnesses say the vehicle did not come to a complete stop and proceeded through the intersection where it was struck by the train. The crash is still under investigation by the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office at this time. Alcohol and speed to not appear to be contributing factors.
The Allegan Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lee Township Fire Department, LIFE EMS, CSX Transportation, and Allegan Central Dispatch.
