Lauren Vegter of Stevensville crowned Miss Spirit of Blossomtime

The last queen to compete in Miss Blossomtime has been crowned.

Lauren Vegter, first runner-up from the Stevensville community pageant, was crowned Miss Spirit at the 10th annual Miss Spirit of Blossomtime competition Saturday at St. Joseph High School.

Lauren is a senior at Lakeshore High School, where she is involved in the Math and Science Center and is a member of the National Honor Society, the Lakeshore Band/Color guard and Varsity Poms.

Lauren received the Excellence in Education Scholarship, and will receive a $1,400 scholarship award and various gifts and prizes for being crowned Miss Spirit.

Miss Spirit was open to all first runners up at the community pageants and offers one more young woman the opportunity to enjoy the events and activities her sister queens will participate in. Miss Spirit will go on to compete in the Showcase of Queens awards at the Mr. Blossomtime and Showcase of Queens Pageant and is eligible for all awards and all placements awarded at the Miss Blossomtime Pageant.

Eighteen contestants competed for the Miss Spirit crown. Abigail Bowers, of Edwardsburg, won the People’s Choice. Other contestants that were awarded $200 scholarships for making the Top 5 were from the communities of Stevensville, St. Joseph, New Buffalo, Berrien Springs and South Haven.

The 2023 Blossomtime Pageant will be held Sunday, April 16 and Monday, April 17 at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center in Benton Harbor. Mr. Blossomtime and the Showcase of Queens is April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at LMC Mendel Center. Miss Blossomtime is April 17 at 7:00 p.m.
