Set for February 17 is the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber Business Recognition Awards Ceremony and Annual Meeting. The chamber’s Sarah Spoonholtz tells us a variety of awards will be given out to local businesses at the gathering.
“Everything from Small Business of the year, which is for those with under 50 employees, to Economic Impact to those with over 50 employees,” Spoonholtz said. “There’s Non-Profit Excellence, which have continued to play a fantastic role in providing for individuals and organizations in the community.”
There’s also the New Business Award, which goes to a business less than two years old. Spoonholtz says it’s important to encourage them. The public got to submit nominations and the winners will be determined the day of the celebration.
“Our plan is to do live voting at the event for people who are in attendance to select a winner, as opposed to having a committee do it.”
Spoonholtz says the keynote speaker at next month’s event will be Indiana Michigan Power Chief Operating Officer Steve Baker. He’ll talk about the energy industry. Chamber President Arthur Havlicek will also give a preview of the coming business year. Early bird tickets for the celebration are available through January 31.
