An Indiana resident is dead after a two-vehicle collision in Cass County.
Alexander Villalobos, a 23-year-old Elkhart resident, died Monday morning due to injuries sustained in a crash near the intersection of Old M-205 and Autumn Drive in Mason Township. After an investigation, Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke said the driver of the car, 24-year-old Andres Rivera of Elkhart, turned in front of a semi truck driven by Robert Dice, a 60-year-old Battle Creek resident.
Rivera was transported to South Bend Memorial for his injuries, while Dice sustained no injuries and was released from the scene. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor and seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash. This case remains under investigation.
Assisting agencies include Porter Township Fire Department, SEPSA Ambulance Service, Edwardsburg Ambulance Service, and the Michigan State Police.
