One of the busier roads in the area will be shut down all next week.
The Berrien County Road Department announced Thursday that Red Arrow Highway will have a total road closure beginning Oct. 10 to allow for workers at the the new Aldi constructions site to install new utilities for the building, located at 5110 Red Arrow Highway, across from Meijer.
The road will be closed to all through traffic from St. Joseph Avenue to John Beers Road, and posted detours redirect drivers through downtown Stevensville via St. Joseph Avenue and John Beers Road.
The total road closure will be between the Tractor Supply Co. and the Hampton Inn, according to the Road Department press release.
“The road will be cut open, and there will be a trench across the road,” said Road Department Project Engineer Kevin Slack. “They’ll have to pour concrete and put asphalt back when they’re done.”
Slack said he does not anticipate the project taking longer than a week, and the contractors are going to push to make sure the job is finished within that time frame.
Below is a map of the affected area, as well as the detour.
