The holiest day of the year for the Jewish people begins at sundown this evening. Yom Kippur is also known as the Day of Atonement. Rabbi Josh Bennett is at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield.

“For Jews, Yom Kippur gives us an opportunity to be reflective and to recognize our many faults from the past year and our commitment to be better in the future.”

Rabbi Bennett says the most important message is Yom Kippur allows people to forgive sins they’ve made against god, but people need to ask for forgiveness for sins made against other people.
