Between the ages of 17 and 20, Benton Harbor resident Ajah Fisher developed a love for the camera. She started out with capturing newborns and maternity photos without charging her clients.

At the age of 22, Ajah began a free modeling program in Benton Harbor to help kids and adults follow their modeling dreams, with hopes of growing her small business.

Now, she has opened up her own photography studio downtown Benton Harbor as Samira’s Photography, 155 W. Main Street, held a grand opening ceremony on Sunday, August 28.

“The night will be filled with joy, laughter, and prayer.” Fisher said, prior to the event. In addition to being a photographer, Fisher also is a dancer and director.

The grand opening was set to include entertainment from Dan Maxon and DQue Essix, with special words by Mayor Marcus Muhammad and Pastor Anntoune Belk. Food and beverages were scheduled to be provided St. Julian Winery and Just Like Momma’s food truck.
