The Berrien County Board of Commissioners took a few minutes during its Thursday meeting to appreciate the staff at Silver Beach County Park. Berrien County Parks Director Jill Adams said key among them are the lifeguards, of which there are currently nine. They’re on duty Wednesdays through Sundays.
“They assist our guests in many different ways, they educate visitors about water safety, they administer first aid, they report issues to our rangers and maintenance,” Adams said. “They are very good about reunited lost and missing children with their parents.”
And that’s a common occurrence at the beach. Adams says this Sunday will be the last day for the lifeguards this year. She also saluted the maintenance and management team at the park, which gets around 10,000 visitors per year.
