No one is hurt after a fire at a home in Benton Harbor Friday. The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety says officers were called to797 Pipestone around 10:45 a.m. on a report of a fire. They arrived to find heavy fire coming from the kitchen and four people, one adult and three children, outside. They’d jumped from a second floor window on to a trampoline in the backyard. Firefighters got the blaze under control quickly and there were no injuries, although a dog in the home was killed. The cause of the fire is believed to have been electrical. Police say the home had no working smoke detectors. The public safety department reminds everyone it can give them smoke detectors free of charge. All you have to do is ask.
