Berrien County Trial Court will be closed on Monday, June 20 this year for the Juneteenth holiday. The Michigan Supreme Court issued an order Wednesday making Juneteenth an official court holiday. All previously scheduled hearings on June 20 will be rescheduled. Court staff will not be available that day, either. It became a federal holiday last year. Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865 when slaves in Galveston, Texas learned of the surrender of the Confederacy two months earlier.
