Set for June 10 through June 12 is the annual Flag Day celebration in Three Oaks. Flag Day Parade coordinator Dyane Thomas tells WSJM News it’s the biggest Flag Day event in the country. Parade day is Sunday.
“As the nation’s largest Flag Day parade, we’ll have over 100 units, anything from clowns to floats to military units,” Thomas said. “We’ll have the Union fire truck come up this year from Union, Indiana, which is a really cool unit if you’ve ever seen that. We’ll have horses, all sorts of fun stuff.”
Thomas says the festivities kick off on Friday, June 10 at the American Legion with music. Moving into Saturday, they’ll have live music, a softball tournament, a beer tent, a 5K, speakers at Carver Park, vendors, and a pet parade. The fireworks will be Saturday at 10:30. Thomas says Three Oaks is a patriotic town and the Flag Day celebration is its biggest festivity of the year.
