The Michigan Public Service Commission is planning an energy assistance fair in Benton Harbor as the state’s energy regulators seek public input on energy affordability and accessibility. It says the fair will be held on Tuesday, May 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Michigan Works Service Center on West Main Street in Benton Harbor. The MPSC’s Mary Wilkins tells WSJM News the fair will give everyone a chance to seek out help with their bills
“We’re hoping to get assistance to people who need it, people who need help with their energy bills,” Wilkins said. “So, we have a number of agencies that have come together as well as energy companies. We’ll have tables set up at the fair where people can come and talk to their energy company or an assistance agency and navigate the process of getting help with their bills.”
There will be several agencies on hand to help. Wilkins says the day will also include listening sessions as the MPSC seeks comments on energy affordability. Those who take part in the listening sessions will be entered to win a $100 energy efficiency kit.
