The St. Joseph Township Police Department is investigating a series of attempted home invasions, an armed home invasion, and a vehicle theft on Thursday. It says several suspects broke into a home on Elm Terrace around 8:20 p.m. and held the resident at bay with a handgun before stealing a vehicle from that home. No one was hurt in the incident. About an hour before that, officers were called to the area of Miami and Cayuga on a report of suspicious individuals wandering around the neighborhood. Not long after, they responded to an alarm at a home and found signs someone had tried to break in. A look around led to another home where a break-in had been attempted. Police have released surveillance video from the area showing the suspects trying to break into houses. Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to contact the St. Joseph Township Police Department.
