Four new recall petitions have been filed against two members of the Lakeshore Public Schools Board of Education, a day after the Berrien County Election Commission rejected two previous recall petitions against them. The Berrien County Clerk’s office tells us the same Lincoln Township resident who filed the now-rejected petitions against Jason Beckrow and Rachel Wade refiled Wednesday after the commission meeting. The new recall language says Beckrow, the board president, is in violation of the Michigan school code for “remaining in office beyond 12/31/22.” It says Beckrow should be serving a four year term under the school board’s bylaws and not a six year term. A petition against Wade says the same of her. A second recall petition against Beckrow says he should be recalled for voting to keep the district’s mask mandate in place and not voting to immediately end it at a February 14 meeting. A second petition against Wade says the same. The Berrien County Election Commission will meet April 4 to decide if the recall language is clear and factual.
