Former Berrien County Treasurer Bret Witkowski is joining the team of Michael Brown for governor. Witkowski served 21 years at the treasurer and also worked for Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration for the Michigan Department of Treasury. Brown has hired him as a senior tax and policy advisor, saying he is pleased to have his expertise on the team. Witkowski says he can attest that Brown has “the best interests of all Michigan citizens at heart” and has a refreshing, common-sense approach “in a world of poll-tested politicians and out-of-touch millionaires.” As county treasurer, Witkowski helped people keep their homes when they got in tax trouble, developing the Hopeful Home Fund with the United Way to keep people in their houses.
