Wesley Dean Schreiber, II

rest-in-peace-500x262-1-1689

Wes was born July 31, 1974 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Wes and Cheri Schreiber and passed away suddenly on January 12, 2022 in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Wes grew up in Coloma where he experienced a typical, albeit, eccentric childhood. From elementary pranks to high school antics, he could always be found either riding his bicycle around town, riding his motorcycles around his parent’s farm, or helping out at the baseball/softball fields. He also had a special place in his heart for the many animals he grew up with and always had a four-legged companion.

After graduating from Coloma High School in 1993, Wes went on to the Carpenters Apprenticeship Program. He participated in a statewide completion where he placed 2nd out of 1,100. Although he was passionate about carpentry and was pursuing a promising career, it was quickly halted after having a major back surgery. Wes continued to love building and fixing things throughout his life and used his knowledge to mentor his daughter Samantha’s robotics team, the CW Tech Robotarians, in 2017 and 2018.

Wes also had a passion for music and was briefly in a band with his son, Brandon, in which he played lead guitar.  He passed his love and passion for music on to his children by taking them to concerts and encouraging them to learn different instruments.

Wes leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory including his son Brandon Whitaker of Niles, daughter Samantha Schreiber (Caleb Dahlke) of Coloma, his parents Wesley and Cheri Schreiber of Bloomingdale, one sister Tonia (Nathan) Bobay of Watervliet, a nephew and a niece, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Max Wagner, Donna Schmidtman, Edward “Pat” Schreiber and Harriet Schreiber Beckner; uncles Dennis Schreiber, Danny Schreiber, Max Wagner and Ollie Wagner.

A private service will be held for the family and a celebration of life will be set for a later date.
