Some new online course offerings are coming to Lake Michigan College. LMC VP of Academic Affairs Leslie Kellogg tells WSJM News it’s thanks to a new partnership with Rio Salado College in Arizona, which has a robust catalogue of online options. Starting next spring, students at LMC can register for online courses in French, American Sign Language, cyber security, and insurance and risk management. She says online courses have grown in popularity.
“Students like online and remote instruction,” Kellogg said. “They also like face to face instruction. It really kind of depends on the programs area. We think the programs we’ve selected lend themselves well to online learning. We also have had a lot of interest in all of these program areas that we have not been able to fulfill.”
Kellogg says more online courses through Rio Salado College could come later. Rio Salado is a large community college in Tempe. All courses taken online through them are fully applicable toward a degree at LMC.
