1,000 Christmas food boxes have been donated to organizations around northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi and its Four Wind Casinos. Distribution is being handled by groups that include Feeding America Michigan in Benton Harbor, Cooperating Ministries and Methodist Church in Hartford, Action Ministry Center in Dowagiac, Lawrence United Methodist Church in Lawrence, and St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Dowagiac. The boxes contain a ham, stuffing, canned corn, potatoes, cranberry jelly, and a pie. Also, Four Winds team members will hand out 300 food boxes at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana in South Bend next Tuesday. Four Winds Casinos COO Frank Freedman says the team hopes the donation can be a source of comfort and holiday cheer for all the recipients.
