Indiana Michigan Power is working to address power lines affected by high winds this week. Spokesperson Schnee Doyle tells WSJM News they had wind gusts of around 30 to 40 miles per hour overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. That did cause pockets out outages that crews were hard at work fixing. If there are more outage due to wind throughout the rest of the week, they’ll be prepared.

“We do have a staff of meteorologists, and they are specifically trained to look for weather that would impact utility equipment,” Doyle said. “That’s things like power lines, any of the equipment on those lines, and then how trees, heavy snow, or wind is going to potentially disrupt service to our customers.”

Doyle notes I&M is helping out in the Plains States, which have been getting hammered with high winds this week. I&M is doing aerial inspections of its lines in Berrien County this week to look for damage from the wind. The helicopter is a green Bell Jet Ranger with tail number N-206-BE. If you see it, don’t be alarmed.
