The Berrien County Health Department is urging everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as a new variant appears in the United States and the holidays are here. Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Brandon Vallee tells WSJM News they’ve continued to hold vaccine clinics each Tuesday and Wednesday. As boosters became available and as the vaccine opened up to children ages five to eleven, the clinics have been well attended.
“We’ve actually been filling out our capacity at our clinics all throughout the month of November, and it looks like moving into December we will continue to be filling out our capacity,” Vallee said.
Vallee says the health department has two distinct types of clinics.
“We have clinics that are dedicated to individuals who are above the age of 12. So, 12 to 105 and older, and then we have separate clinics which are geared toward children who are 5 to 11.”
Appointments are available online for self-scheduling for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, as well as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the health department’s website. Vallee notes there are plenty of other places where the shots are available. He recommends full protection this holiday season.
