Ashanti passed away a tragic death at the young age of 19 on October 13th, 2021. Ashanti was born on May 04th, 2002 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph to her mother, Gloria White and father Eric Hines. A lively, outgoing child, Ashanti enjoyed listening to music, dancing, watching movies with her mom and sister, and of course taking over her mom’s bed at night. Ashanti was most certainly a mama’s girl. Ashanti enjoyed doing her makeup, dressing up, practicing doing nails, and facials. Ashanti was excited about preparing herself to embark on a career in modeling.

Ashanti graduated from High School in May of 2020, receiving her High School Diploma. Ashanti aspired to be successful in life. She furthered her education and obtained her Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Certification. Ashanti had a passion for helping others in any way that she can. Ashanti worked several jobs that highlighted her loving and caring heart. Ashanti loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her right-hand lady, her sister Kahlayia. She enjoyed seeing her cousins, spending time with them and playing games at family gatherings.

Ashanti was a beautiful, funny, goofy, smart, loving, and big-hearted young lady. She was always smiling, and her presence would always light up any room.  At a very young age, Ashanti displayed her love for animals. Her first career choice as a young girl was to become a veterinarian. Attaching herself to any animal in her presence. Ashanti’s pets included, kittens, puppies, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, and many others.

Ashanti is proceeded in death by her grandmother, EverJene White, grandfather Rev. Eldridge White, and brother Teeon Ray.

Ashanti is survived by her mother Gloria White (Dwain), mother Tarnell Ray, father Eric Hines, her sisters Kahlayia Hines, Emoni Hines, Bre’yanna Hines, brothers Eric Hines and Keewayn Fleming. Grandparents Constance Ellis, James Ray Jr., Mama Rhonda, Mama QC, Eddie Woods, and Anita Shelby. Aunts Cynthia Rivera, Cleorla White, Kylie White, Diane Pratt, Thellis Atkins, Patricia Smith, Julius Turner, Sharene Veal, Marilyn White, Teaura White, Dawn White, Matie White, Bernice Woods, Teon Smith, Karnette Ellis, Marquita Brown, Nicole Clark, Shakira Desavoir, Sharee Graham.
