It’s Cyber Security week, and a Michigan expert says there’s one simple change you can make today to make sure your accounts are safe. David Derigotis at Burns and Wilcox says too many people us the same log ins and passwords across multiple accounts and it can lead to disastrous circumstances.
“State Farm, a couple of years ago, had an attack and there was nothing that they did wrong on their end but users were putting in place the same type of email, same type of passwords to log into their State Farm account that they were in other places and attackers were able to use those basic, standard passwords that people are using or even re-using, and they were able to get into people’s accounts.”
Derigotis says it’s also important to make sure you take advantage of every software update available.
